Review: I watched the premiere Labor Day in Toronto International Film Festival. Most people walk in expecting Juno / Up in the Air style of comedy and that is what you expect, you will be surprised lightly. The film is darker than Reitmans normal order of work you will continue to recognize the connection directors. The film tells the story of Adele (Kate Winslet), a woman who is slowly closing off the world, relying heavily on his son Henry (Gattlin Griffith), whose father abandoned the other woman and other children. Entering guilty escape threatening (Josh Brolin) who finds refuge with Adele and her son as he tried to remain hidden from the police. The summary will have to believe that the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited. or that the family realizes that they are prisoners in their own homes, which makes it seem like the movie is going to be a sort of Panic Room 2, but the story does not is nothing like that. How Adele and her son came to know the prisoner, they found the family that you miss. There is a beautiful story, although it is unlikely, but I thought it was important was not the story we see so much as a testament to the characters finally have a chance at happiness and how the rest of their days will be made up this weekend they spent together. The film is directed by dialogue as much as Reitmans other films. The director said in interviews that he was finding it difficult to make a movie where there was a lot of dialogue (he actually said that without music or dialogue and I went half expecting to see a silent film.) He ' working around it by having Tobey Maguire as Henry says the older film. The narrative works, although I think the movie could have done without it too. Do not let the whole thing in silence prevents you from seeing this movie, I thought there was not enough dialogue, and music as well, although unlike Juno soundtrack does not play so modern throughout. The film is more subtle even more raw, more slowly than usual and let the movie actors take us through every emotion. Kate Winslet is a great actress and gave a beautiful performance as Adele, is very convincing in portraying a girl whos stop living. Josh Brolin is great, giving both the hard and soft hearted man guilty, sometimes not. Gattlin Griffith is great for a child who is growing faster than it should. I'm always very dubious when it comes to child actors, but is pulled off very well. Finally, Labor Day is different, more mature and more mature film from Jason Reitman. Its good transitions from its previous comedies and go a little deeper than his other films, bringing stress, tears and laughter. If you're already a fan Reitman or not, I recommend this movie, you will be surprised on the upside.
